Transforming Challenging Architecture Through Bespoke Furniture Design.
We were challenged to overcome the architectural challenges of the existing layout by designing bespoke furniture solutions that created a functional, collaborative, yet private environment for both staff and patients. What had previously been a single large room was reimagined into a flexible setting, carefully zoned through tailored furniture pieces to provide varying levels of privacy, focus and interaction.
To bring this to life, we produced detailed visual concepts and 3D renders to help the client clearly see how the space could be transformed. By specifying custom furniture and acoustic pods to work seamlessly within the constraints of the building, we demonstrated how thoughtful, made-to-measure solutions could unlock a balanced, multifunctional environment that supports collaboration, concentration and confidentiality.
To overcome fixed structural pillars that couldn’t be altered, we designed and manufactured a fully bespoke seating solution that wrapped seamlessly around the existing architecture.
The space needed to work hard in multiple ways, offering quiet, individual retreat space as well as accommodating informal team meetings, while also creating a sense of separation and privacy, almost like a room within a room.
Our final solution delivered on every part of the brief. The tailored seating formed a defined, enclosed zone within the wider environment, improving acoustic comfort and usability while maximising the footprint around the columns.
All upholstery was specified using NHS-approved fabric ranges and colourways were selected in collaboration with the team who would use the space every day, ensuring the finished environment was not only compliant and durable, but genuinely loved by its users.
